Laowa - 17mm f/4 Zero-D Shift L Mount

The Venus Optics Laowa 17mm f/4 Zero-D Shift Lens is an exceptional ultra-wide prime lens designed for full-frame mirrorless cameras that demand architectural accuracy and precise perspective control. Combining an expansive 17mm focal length with a ±11mm shift mechanism, this lens allows photographers to correct converging vertical lines directly in-camera—eliminating the need for post-processing distortion corrections. With a broad 104° angle of view and Laowa’s renowned Zero-D optical design that minimizes distortion at the source, this lens produces clean, natural geometry across the entire frame. Whether you are shooting interior spaces, real estate properties, or expansive landscapes, the Laowa 17mm f/4 Zero-D Shift delivers professional-grade results in a compact, lightweight package.

Key Features
Ultra-Wide 17mm Focal Length: Provides a sweeping 104° angle of view, ideal for capturing tight interiors, grand architectural exteriors, and dramatic landscapes.

±11mm Shift Capability: Enables precise perspective correction by shifting the lens up to 11mm in any direction, allowing you to keep the camera level while adjusting the composition—perfect for eliminating converging vertical lines in architectural photography.

Zero-D Optical Design: Laowa’s signature Zero-D technology minimizes optical distortion, ensuring straight lines remain straight from edge to edge without barrel or pincushion distortion.

Advanced Optical Construction: Features an 18-element, 12-group optical design incorporating extra-low dispersion (ED), ultra-high refraction (UHR), and aspherical elements to deliver exceptional sharpness, clarity, and color accuracy across the frame.

Aperture Range f/4 to f/22: Offers creative depth-of-field control while maintaining edge-to-edge sharpness throughout the aperture range.

14-Blade Diaphragm: Produces beautifully smooth bokeh and natural, rounded highlight rendering, enhancing the aesthetic quality of out-of-focus areas.

Manual Focus with Close Focusing: Precision manual focus design allows for critical sharpness adjustment, with a minimum focusing distance of just 25 cm (9.8 inches) for dramatic close-up wide-angle compositions.

Professional Tripod Collar: Includes a fixed and rotating tripod collar with Arca-Swiss compatibility for stable mounting and smooth orientation adjustments.

86mm Front Filter Thread: Accepts standard screw-in filters, allowing you to easily attach polarizers, neutral density, or other creative filters.

Compact and Lightweight Design: Measuring just 93 x 111 mm and weighing approximately 770 g (1.7 lb), this lens is highly portable for on-location shoots.

Use Cases
Architectural Photography
The ±11mm shift capability is specifically engineered for architectural work, allowing you to photograph buildings from ground level while keeping vertical lines perfectly parallel. This eliminates the need for perspective correction in post-production, saving valuable time and preserving image quality.

Interior and Real Estate Photography
The ultra-wide 104° angle of view makes this lens ideal for capturing entire rooms in a single frame, even in tight spaces. The shift function helps maintain natural proportions, ensuring that walls and door frames appear straight and true.

Landscape Photography
With its expansive field of view and virtually distortion-free optics, the Laowa 17mm f/4 is perfect for capturing sweeping vistas, dramatic foreground-background relationships, and immersive natural scenes.

Professional and Commercial Work
The combination of shift capability, superior optical quality, and robust build makes this lens a reliable tool for commercial photographers, interior designers, and real estate agents who demand the highest image standards.
