Key Features
Ultra-Wide 110.5° Angle of View
The expansive 110.5° field of view allows photographers to capture more of the scene in a single frame, making it ideal for landscape, architecture, and interior photography where capturing the full breadth of a space is essential. This wide perspective enhances the sense of depth and scale in images, creating visually compelling compositions that draw viewers into the scene.

0.5x Macro Magnification (1:2 Reproduction Ratio)
With a maximum magnification of 0.5x (1:2 reproduction ratio), this lens enables photographers to get extraordinarily close to their subjects. The minimum focusing distance of just 1.4 inches (36mm) from the front of the lens unlocks unique framing possibilities that are simply unattainable with conventional wide-angle lenses. This feature is particularly valuable for capturing intricate details in wildlife, flowers, textures, and small objects while maintaining a sense of the wider environment.

Auto-Aperture Functionality
Unlike fully manual versions, this Canon EF model features auto-aperture control, allowing photographers to focus on composition while the camera determines the optimal aperture value. Electrical contacts on the lens mount enable the transmission of EXIF data, providing valuable information about focal length, aperture, and other settings for each shot. This significantly enhances workflow efficiency and simplifies the shooting experience.

Advanced Optical Construction
The lens incorporates 16 optical elements arranged in 11 groups, including 2 aspherical elements, 3 ED (Extra-low Dispersion) elements, and 3 high-refractive glass elements. This sophisticated optical design works in harmony to minimize distortion, reduce chromatic aberration, and deliver exceptional sharpness and color fidelity across the entire frame. The result is outstanding image quality with excellent contrast and detail reproduction.

5-Bladed Diaphragm with 10-Pointed Sunstars
The 5-bladed aperture diaphragm produces distinctive 10-pointed sunstars when shooting into point light sources, adding a dramatic aesthetic appeal to images. This creative effect is particularly striking in urban night photography, landscapes with backlighting, and architectural shots where light sources are present.

Lightweight and Compact Design
Weighing only 308 grams and measuring just 47.7mm in length, this lens is exceptionally portable. The compact form factor makes it an ideal companion for travel, hiking, and everyday carry, ensuring that photographers never miss an opportunity due to bulky equipment.

62mm Front Filter Thread
The inclusion of a standard 62mm front filter thread allows photographers to easily attach polarizers, neutral density filters, and other creative filters. This feature is uncommon for lenses with such a wide field of view and adds significant creative flexibility.

Full-Metal Construction
Built with a durable full-metal housing, this lens offers excellent build quality and longevity. The solid construction instills confidence in demanding shooting environments and ensures reliable performance over years of use.

Use Cases

The ultra-wide 110.5° field of view combined with excellent distortion control makes this lens an outstanding choice for architectural and interior photography. Photographers can capture entire rooms, building exteriors, and interior spaces with minimal perspective distortion, producing professional-quality images that accurately represent the subject.

Landscape Photography
The 15mm focal length allows landscape photographers to capture sweeping vistas, dramatic foreground elements, and expansive skyscapes. The 0.5x macro capability adds an extra dimension, enabling creative foreground detail shots that provide depth and context to wide landscape compositions.

Macro and Nature Photography
The exceptionally short minimum focusing distance of 1.4 inches from the front of the lens enables photographers to capture extreme close-ups of flowers, insects, textures, and other small subjects. The wide-angle perspective ensures that macro subjects are presented within their environmental context, creating images that tell a complete story.

Urban and Street Photography
The compact size, lightweight construction, and wide field of view make this lens ideal for urban and street photography. Photographers can capture dynamic cityscapes, narrow alleyways, and bustling street scenes with dramatic perspective and exceptional detail. The 10-pointed sunstars add creative flair to nighttime urban shots.

Real Estate Photography
Real estate photographers will appreciate the lens’s ability to capture entire rooms and properties in a single frame. The excellent distortion control ensures that interiors are represented accurately, making properties more appealing to potential buyers.
